PIMPAMA SUBURB PROFILE

A suburb in the north of the Gold Coast, Pimpama lies on the Pacific Motorway, 30 kilometres north of Surfers Paradise. It’s surrounded by Jacobs Well, Ormeau and Willow Vale, and Coomera on the south.

The name comes from the Bundjalung language, meaning either the place of soldier bird, freshwater crayfish, or the place of the peewee.

Pimpama has been the terminus for Cobb & Co Coach services from Brisbane since 1868. Passengers who frequently traveled along the highway, remember seeing the old Uniting Church and the statue of a soldier, first erected after World War I and reconstructed later years due to damage. Underneath the monument flows Pimpama River, all the way to Moreton Bay.

The suburb’s main advantage is its location – the proximity of the highway in the first place, its peaceful ambience and the easy access to several national parks and golf courses.

Pimpama now has 9.396 residents with a median age of 27 years, clearly reflecting the fact that the locality increasingly appeals to young people and unmarried couples. Rental property managers in Pimpama reveal the letting vacancy rate is usually around 1.9%.

Pimpama is close to the Pacific Highway, a major road on the Gold Coast, and it’s well connected to Brisbane and the Gold Coast centres. When it comes to places for shopping, the nearest facilities are Pimpama City Shopping Center, Pimpama Junction, Westfield Coomera, and the Coomera East Shopping Centre.

All of the Pimpama schools enjoy a good reputation: Pimpama Early Learning for the youngest, Pimpama State School and Pimpama State Primary College for primary education.

A number of parks spread in and surrounding Pimpama, such as the Green Meadow park, the Aquila Reserve with its abundance of kids’ playground equipment, and the Forest Green Playground. The Heritage Park, open every second Sunday of the month, covers an area of some 34 hectares.
