KINGSHOLME SUBURB PROFILE

Kingsholme is a suburb on the Gold Coast, surrounded by Ormeau Hills, Willow Vale, Pimpama and Cedar Creek. First named and bounded by the government in 1981, Kingsholme is located halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

The suburb enjoys convenient access to the Pacific Motorway which brushes upon its Northeastern end, making the larger city centre particularly easy to reach. It takes 25 minutes to the Gold Coast and 40 minutes to Brisbane. Many of Kingsholme’s acreage properties encircled by rich vegetation smartly combine a peaceful country lifestyle with city proximity and easy beach access.

Kingsholme was initially the name of an estate owned by an Irishman from County Cork, James Murtha. He came to the area in 1869 and engaged in banana farming. Today’s Thomson’s Road in Kingsholme goes back to Alexander Thomson’s family from Scotland, another among the early settlers who grew sugar cane and arrowroot on the fertile land available in this area. Later they switched to dairy farming and saw-milling.

The village has 527 registered residents with a median age of 38 years and the majority of them married couples. Currently, there are 184 dwellings for rent in Kingsholme, while houses sell at a median property price of over $500,000. Its market offers mainly acreage and lifestyle properties suitable for people who enjoy a rustic lifestyle. In the North-East corner of the suburb, Montego Hills encompasses some of the last unclaimed acreage lots on the Gold Coast. The Hidden Court Reserve provides recreational activities. South-West of Kingsholme lies the Tamborine National Park, excellent for camping and weekend trips within easy reach.

The Westfield Helensvale shopping precinct and the Coomera City Centre shopping centre are both only a 20-minute drive away, but local shopping centres and major grocery stores also populate the suburb.

Well-planned out public bus and rail lines connect many parts of the suburb with major regional destinations. Schools in neighbouring Pimpama and Ormeau Hills lie at less than 3 kilometres away, suitable for a daily commute.
