PACIFIC PINES SUBURB PROFILE

Pacific Pines is a suburb in the northern part of the Gold Coast in the Australian state of Queensland. Nestled between the Pacific Motorway and the northern side of the Nerang State Forest, Pacific Pines benefits from a unique geographical position.

Pacific Pines was originally part of Gaven but in 2003 it became a separate suburb. Parts of the land at some stage in its history served as a pine plantation. In 1992, the Stockland Trust Group bought the 800ha land that became Pacific Pines. It was converted into a residential area with an estimated capacity of 5,800 house lots and various community areas and amenities. The first stage of the plan was launched in 1993.

As the development in this region went on, the new roads in the surrounding area allowed easier access to Pacific Pines. The number of residents grew gradually and in 2016 the population reached 16,884. In parallel, property prices have also been growing exponentially. In 1993, the first block of land sold for $56,000. By the time of its fifteenth anniversary in 2008, the same parcel cost $236,000. Rental property managers in Pacific Pines estimate the letting vacancy rate at around 1.6%.

Pacific Pines is a multicultural residential community. The residents are mostly Australians, 62.4%, with other ethnicities that feature prominently being New Zealanders, 12.3%, and English, 5.0%, but Chinese, Indians, Philipinos, and other ethnicities are also represented.

There are three primary schools in Pacific Pines and one high school. The most recent school to open in the suburb is Park Lake State School, which first welcomed students in 2008.

Its convenient location and the pristine nature that encloses it are the main reasons for Pacific Pines’ popularity among homebuyers in recent years. The Nerang National Park nearby provides ample opportunities for outdoor outings that will please visitors of all ages. The many native and non-native animals who live in the park can also be spotted throughout the suburb. Some examples are the European rabbit, European fox, fallow deer, and the cane toad, as well as the native kangaroos, wallabies and many others.

Pacific Pines Central Park is beloved among visitors and residents alike, especially for its scenic lake. The park is centrally located and quite large. It makes for a great picnic area with available barbeque facilities, but it’s also great for jogging or walking your dog. A well-equipped playground attracts children of all ages. Workout equipment for the adults, as well as open land for cricket, softball, hockey, and volleyball, all make it a true asset for locals.
