A thriving residential suburb on the Coomera River, Helensvale also borders with the Coombabah Lake. Situated to the East of Oxenford and South of Hope Island, at 20 minutes away from Surfers Paradise, Helensvale is the northern gate to the popular Gold Coast suburbs along the coastline.

The suburb was named in honour of Helena White, the daughter of Robert White, one of the two owners of the area’s first plantation in the nineteenth century. The 22 square-kilometre wetland was integrated by 1980, making Helensvale the first suburb of this kind in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The Helensvale area residential development, which started as early as 1974, followed a plan that envisioned 2,700 homes, a shopping centre, several parks, a primary and secondary state school, and a golf course. All of these materialized by the time its first residents set foot in the 1980s making it a well-designed urban locality that offers all the amenities that local families could need. It became a model to follow for urban subdivision.

By 2016, Helensvale’s population has steadily grown reaching nearly 17,000 people – a friendly environment bound to make newcomers quickly feel at home. Its stylish, well-planned properties and apartments are in high demand from Owners and Investors with particular demand from new Tenants for rentals . Helensvale property managers say the vacancy rate is very low now as the suburb offers a variety of dwellings, from single or double units, to spacious, character-full modernized homes or acreage properties.

New property development in the very centre of the suburb is currently underway. The Discovery Apartments project commenced in 2019 and foresees the construction of 72 ultra-modern high-end design apartments meant to appeal to buyers with high aesthetic standards. The apartment complex will also include a slat-water swimming pool and lush landscaped gardens. This development will have its own property management and will set a new standard in Helensvale.

The projected growth for this suburb in the coming years remains steady, largely due to recent improvements in the transport infrastructure. In 2017, the Helensvale Railway Station became the Northern terminus of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit, or the G:link light rail corridor. Rental property managers estimate this has driven down the letting vacancy rate in Helensvale to around 1.2%.

Helensvale has gained much from its role as a transportation hub. The Rail Station is a major interchange on the Gold Coast as is the Pacific Motorway intersects the Gold Coast Highway, two of Gold Coasts’ main roads.

With the easy access to the M1 road, commuting to Brisbane for work is possible and many of its residents have employment there, taking the 45-minute drive to work. This is particularly attractive for investors looking for in demand and easily accessible locations that attract good rental returns.

Besides the Helensvale shopping centre, a popular social hub, a number of accompanying amenities supplement the residents’ experience.
