A walking distance away from Surfers’ Paradise, the central and lively suburb of Bundall harbours peaceful and family-friendly ambiance. It’s close enough to the beach, but still far enough from the noise of Surfers’ Paradise.

Part of the area, dubbed “the Golden Triangle” by the real estate industry, Bundall is one of the suburbs that have seen steady, sustained growth over the last decade. In 2017 the suburb was listed among those with a million-dollar or higher median home value.

First records of Bundall as a settlement date back to as early as 1864, when it primarily figured as a sugar cane farming area. Its name might have come from an Aboriginal word denoting the cunjevoi plant.

As is the case with many Queensland suburbs, dairy farming replaced sugar cane in the mid-twentieth century. At the time, the area of present-day Bundall was predominantly saturated land consisting of marshes and swamps. Land surveying work in the second half of the twentieth century gave way to the first waterfront estates in the 1970s.

Many Bundall houses have been renovated in the past ten years. The Sorrento section of the southern part of Bundall encompasses prestigious cul-de-sacs populated with million-dollar premium properties overlooking the Nerang River. Many offer remarkable city skyline views, renowned as one of the best river waterfront homes in the Gold Coast area.

Bundall is a thriving suburb, whose waterfront residential parts, such as Sorrento, are unlikely to lose their appeal. Prices for properties in the locality have grown about 16% in the past three years only. Rental property managers estimate the letting vacancy rate in Bundall usually at around 1.2%.

Married couples account for somewhat over 50% of the Bundall population, with non-married and senior citizens making up the second biggest chunk. With many of its homes positioned near canals or along the cul-de-sacs and away from traffic, the living here is mostly quiet and family-friendly.

Owing to the suburb’s prime location, top-quality schools, administrative, and medical facilities abound in Bundall. It boasts its own well-developed commercial area, but bigger shopping centres are also located a 20-minute drive away, such as the Pacific Fair shopping centre or the Robina town centre. For more local shopping, one of the most well-supplied farmers’ markets in the wider area is held in Bundall on Sundays.

There are plenty of the major Cold Coast markers to be found in Bundall, such as the Gold Coast Turf Club, where the annual Magic Millions Carnival takes place, or the only Gold Coast ice skating rink.

The Home Of The Arts, or HOTA, park offers a scenic getaway in the very centre of the suburb allowing for pleasant walks, jogging, pool swimming, picnics or barbeque gatherings. The Southport Golf Course is directly adjacent to the Bundall suburb, making it a five-minute drive there from any location. The Royal Pines Resort is another sports facility that takes no more than five minutes by car to reach it.
